Santiago Back to Buenos Aires

It might seem a bit strange having a separate page for half a day's trip. It was a good trip.

The Flight:

Nothing unusual about the flight, the plane, leaving Chile, arriving in BA. All very normal. Worth the trip however for the view out the window of the Andes. Given they're 6,000-odd metres high around there, the plane's not THAT much higher. If you ever fly across them during the day, get a window seat.
Out of Santiago and towards the Andes

Ezeiza Airport BA to the City:

We'd decided to stay at the second hotel owned by the same people who owned the other one - this one in the San Telmo area of BA. Again, not far from the city, and only 2 km from the other hotel.

Seeing as we knew our way around, we decided to catch the local bus to the city this time. No 8 - down a few hundred metres from the terminal to the left, and they leave every few minutes. From deciphering our pocket bus guide, it goes pretty close to our new hotel. No probs.

Apart from us, the people catching the bus are the airport staff and aircraft crew ..... so far. The trip takes 2+ hours. It zig-zags it way through all the back parts of BA - outskirts, outer suburbs, inner suburbs, somehow through the city and down towards our hotel. Passengers included someone having a heated argument with the driver (he wasn't kicked off), someone with a portable MP3 player singing along to it, someone got on with a guitar and had a few songs to play, plus a cross-section of BA. Well worth the trip. No pictures, but good to absorb. We sat down the back and took it all in. All for around 30 cents (Aus) ! After passing through the city, we recognised where we had to get off, and found our new hotel a few blocks away from our stop.

Ready for another few days in BA. Not enough.
