Day 1 in Buenos Aires

Day one in a new big city always has a list of things to do to get organised for the rest of the time there, but first off - breakfast. Hotel breakfast .... looks like we're the only ones around ..... then comes a big plate of fruit (maybe we're back in Cuba?), then breads and jams and fruit juices (maybe we're in France?), then a decent coffee (maybe we're still back home in Aus.) All's well. No jetlag - yet.

Time to go off on foot to get a feel for the place. It's a Sunday morning, so pretty quiet compared to home. I guess the church plays it's part here. 30 mins walk into the main part of the city down along the back streets, and a lot more people around the closer you get to the main part. There's one BIG WIDE main street - Ave 9 July - 18 lanes - complete with pedestrian crossings. Now there's a challenge ahead - getting across all those with one set of green pedestrian lights.
All in all nothing like getting completely lost on foot in a big city to get the feel of it. Monday will be the day to sort out our SUBE cards to get around on the buses and Metro and start to try and see what BA is all about.

Come afternoon, jetlag has taken it's toll and it's back to our abode for a sleep before dinner. Nice place, so we've decided to stay a few more days there.

23:00....wake up....feeling a bit hungry. Where are we? BA backstreets of Monserrat? mmmmm....  Maybe there's somewhere a few blocks away to eat. After 30 mins of walking around the backstreets we find what looks OK - an Italian restaurant still with a few people in it. Food and price is OK. Eat and back for a few card games and more sleep.

Sunday night in BA - there's quite a few people wandering around the streets late. No worries - all's well - seems like a very interesting place. Anton likes big cities. We're in a VERY BIG city (It even has VERY BIG forks.) He's not complaining.
